But this covering of sin is for him to do, not for us. Some people foolishly try to cover their own sins, to forget them, only to find that they continue to haunt them. The means which God has appointed for the putting away of sins is that we should deliberately recall them and bring them out with shame into the open, and let him cover them through the merit of his Son’s death. The reason why we are to uncover our sins is not only that God may forgive them, but that we may forsake them. There is
